Agfest is a three day agricultural event held annually in May in Northern Tasmania and is recognised as one of the top three field days in Australia. Agfest commenced in 1983 with 111 exhibitors and the event has grown to include over 740 exhibitors and almost 80,000 patrons.
The Road Safety Task Force (RSTF) takes part in the event each year by participating in the Working for a Safer Tasmania site. This site is a joint effort between the RSTF, Tasmania Police, DIER's Registration and Licensing Branch, the Tasmanian Ambulance Service, the State Emergency Service, Transport Inspectors, the Road Trauma Support Group, Air Rescue Trust and Rotorlift Helicopters.
The Working for a Safer Tasmania site is one of the largest marquees at Agfest and provides patrons with the opportunity to understand what goes on behind the scenes in these organisations and recognise the involvement they have in creating a safer Tasmania.
The RSTF exhibit provides information about the dangers of speeding, drink driving, not wearing a seatbelt, inattention, fatigue and other factors.
